Eating out – Britain’s favourite pastime
Eating out is something of an obsession with Brits. People in the UK spend a lot of time dining in restaurants, and almost as much thinking about where to eat. According to a 2017 survey from VoucherCodes.co.uk, Brits eat out twice each a week on average. They will spend an enormous £288,000 on restaurant meals during their lifetime. Eating out is most definitely Britain’s number one pastime.
What is Britain’s favourite restaurant meal?
Meerkat meals carried out a study of dining habits in 2018. They found that most people visit the same restaurants when they eat out. The study ranked people’s preferred cuisine choices. The top four are:
- Pub food (pie, steak, fish and chips, and so on)
- Italian
- Chinese
- Indian
People spend around 25 minutes deciding where to eat. Half of those said that the pain of choosing where to eat takes the fun out of the restaurant experience. A lot of time can be saved if you’ve got great restaurants on your doorstep. The time saved in trying to find a good place to eat makes for a more enjoyable experience in the best restaurants in London.
