UK Property will it be affected by Biden's Election?

UK Property will not change, Biden's win will just continue if not strengthen the ties or special relationship that the UK has with the United States.

UK Property and Biden winning the election, actually to be fair even though it was close it’s turning out to be an astounding win!

Certainly 4M more votes, and has a clear majority, although and will talk about this it may turn out that it's not actually, he may turn out to be a lame duck person for the next two years, will see what happens if he can’t win those two senates seats, that’s going to be the real challenge in Georgia. All eyes in January and that’s one of the challenges he really faces now is that, but look as we expected Trump is being an absolute child about it, he is a child he never grew up and to be fair I don’t know whether his father wasn’t there or whatever psychologist would say, clearly the guy has issues.

He may have money and it got him cuffed but he is not the sort of person that you really want to be around, and I think most of the world knows that is why everyone is celebrating. Whether he is doing good or whether he is going against corporate interest and things like that I just didn’t see it, I think he was out for himself and I think we all know that and I think nobody likes that.

It's a very different market in Scotland, it's a smaller market. There's some fundamental changes namely oil and gas with all the issues there and that I know Aberdeen and a few of those places house prices have dropped considerably. So, it

For me Biden winning is a good thing for UK Property even though it’s kind of less of two evils for me. A lot of people might say hold on a sec, this might be the issue where Brexit does not work out for us very well but we’ll see. The real thing to look out for is what happens in January, look there are two scenarios this is BNP Paribas did a webinar on this and effectively they are talking about 3 options, the 3rd option was the Trump one which obviously hasn’t.

Scenario 1 was Democrats sweep with progressive and they get the senate and the house and therefore they can actually implement stuff which is really what you wanted. The thing that is looking potentially to be like or could be is that Biden wins but the Republicans have the Senate. The problem with that is what they call lame duck which is where you are the President but you can’t really get anything through without heavily negotiating it down.

And the problem is, a lot of these things if they get so watered down nothing really happens. It happened with Obama, well, yes he got a few things down,  but you know the reality is no major change, it’s kind of stayed the course, middle ground. That is not necessarily good for the issues that are happening over there and I think that really is more of a US issue than what’s going to affect us, as in the UK or all around the world. I think if anything it’s positive, we don’t need to listen to an idiot which is the first thing.

The other side of it is we’ve got Boris, these are two articles: Brexit, huge US trade deal warning as historic Biden phone call leaves sour taste, fair enough, I don’t know how they knew about this. Then, a special relationship back on! Biden phones Boris ahead of France and Ireland. It’s amazing the spin that the media can take. The reality is that if anything its put Boris back to a position to where he was kind of already in, because the law did not agree to his internal market act or bill. And really what that means is that he’s gotta go back to the negotiation table.

I still think that we will get a deal, I still think it will be a deal that happens in the last hour of the last day of the last minute. And it will be if anything lame duck deals, if I can use that word for the third time in this livestream. But I think that's really what we are looking at, the Brexit side of things. We will get a deal, we will sort it out, the special relationship will continue because we are just too linked.

At the end of the day because of that we are linked so much in many ways, even though we are out of the EU we are still very much in the G20 and all those sorts of things and that will come through and I think Boris is not stupid enough to try and go against that, I think he is just playing the negotiation game. Which is good on him, fantastic.

There are huge opportunities out there for UK Property, the news is there to have the headlines and you know what unfortunately a lot of them are the majority are negative headlines unfortunately. But I think the real key is how does it affect UK property, your portfolio, how does that affect your career, things like disruption and all that. And when you work all that out, actually you might find that now there is no better time to invest in UK Property than now. The rates are insane, I’ve got some clients that are talking about 1.9% which is just extraordinary. The cashflow on that is so cheap and they are able to lock that in for 2 to 5 years.
