How do I take the first step in Property Investment?

Building your property portfolio seems to be hard at the start but if you have a plan and strategy in place plus good people around you to give an advise. It is not so bad. There are loads of opportunity everywhere you just need to know how to find them.

I want to show you this video, I'll introduce you to Bastien and Ahmani who are my two eldest kids.

For today's outside broadcast what I thought I'd do is I would just you walk to the top of Bukit Timah Hill and I've got Bastien and Ahmani here, what I want to do and I thought what was really interesting is just the whole process of coming here and going up to the summit. It's 163 meters tall so it's not the most massive hill or most massive mountain in the world but it is Singapore's tallest one.

It's a very different market in Scotland, it's a smaller market. There's some fundamental changes namely oil and gas with all the issues there and that I know Aberdeen and a few of those places house prices have dropped considerably. So, it depends on how that's reacted.

Brett: How was it? What were you thinking before you actually started this?

Ahmani: I thought it was really high because I didn't really understand like how high it actually was.

Brett: yeah so it was 163 but you didn't really you couldn't relate that you maybe could relate it horizontal but not vertical. What about you Bastien?

Bastien: I thought it was when at the start I was kind of positive and then when you when you told me that it was going to be like an hour and 30 minutes I started to think it's going to be quite hard but then when we got here and now we're up here it was quite easy actually.

Brett: And it only took us about 20 minutes in the end. But when you first, the first part of it is quite steep. It's like about this steep, how did you feel when you saw that?

Ahmani: I was like that's gonna be super tiring.

Bastien: That I thought was the main challenge and also there was another part that stairs and that looks very challenging

Brett: I think look how this relates to property because let's face it, let's do that and thank you guys and well done congratulations.

How this relates property is this right now you're probably looking there and you're going this seems too difficult this seems too hard. I haven't done this before I'm in the unknown. I'm uncertain and I think the key to anything is to get educated, to get good quality people around you and when you do that you realise that actually a lot of things aren't as hard as they seem.

In actual fact what you plan to be you know an hour to get up actually turns out to be 20 minutes or it's a lot simpler especially if you get good people around you. And especially if you overcome the initial hurdle of and look the start is always like this you know for anything that starts like that but it was like that and then it was pretty much like this the whole way up wasn't it.

Ahmani: There was like that and then like sometimes like that

Brett: yeah little bits you know because you're always gonna have those. And I think this relates to life and anything same with property investment. You know it really is very easy and simple. When you start looking at this and realising once you get a plan once you get a strategy that meets the market.

You know you're good people around you, your power team, then actually property's bloody easy in any market even if you're looking down the barrel of recession. Because there's opportunity everywhere you've just got to know how to find it.
