In my experience, the best investors in off-plan property benefit from a distinct set of personal traits. Could you join all those who have become wealthy by investing in off-plan?
If you’ve got these four characteristics, then the answer is a resounding ‘yes’:
You’re prepared to get educated about property investment
Whatever it is you are doing, you need to acquire the knowledge to be good at it. If you don’t know how to swim, I wouldn’t recommend you dive into the deep end.
Property investment could become your career, and make you incredibly wealthy. But it takes time to become good at it. You’ll need to be patient, though. You can’t acquire the knowledge you need in just a few hours.
Don’t get duped by the promise of seminar providers who promise a lifetime of wealth in just a few hours of coaching. You can be certain that you’ll pay dearly for these, possibly thousands, and receive little more than a few glossy brochures and a sales pitch that lasted a whole afternoon.

Unless you know your objectives, you won’t be able to devise the strategy to invest successfully.
You’ll have thought about why you want to invest. For example, it might be to deliver stunning retirement income. However, even this objective is a little woolly. Make your objective SMART:
- Specific
- Measurable
- Achievable
- Realistic
- Timebound
For example:
I want to retire by the time I reach the age of 60, with an income of £30,000 per year, living in the Cotswolds, and going on country walks every day.
When you know what you want, when you want it, and where you want to be, you can start planning the journey that will get you there.
Again, because you’re reading this, I suspect you already have an idea of your objectives. You may not have defined them as SMART goals yet, but every definite objective begins as a notion. (Why don’t you give your objective a little more thought, and develop a SMART goal?)
You’re not afraid to follow your instinct
You’re a naturally intuitive person, and you’re prepared to act on gut instinct. You also understand that there’s a difference between intuition and gusto.
You become enthusiastic when something ‘feels right’, but you’re no fool. You’ll take your time to follow your gut and make sure that the opportunity of a lifetime is what it promises.
You’ll crunch all the numbers, do your research, and conduct due diligence. When your research and considerations confirm what your intuition told you, then you pull the trigger and go ahead.
When you read the title of this article, you followed your instinct and opened it. You felt that you would learn something by reading it, and you were right.
You’re not afraid to take advantage of help
There is always someone more knowledgeable than you. When you first start out investing in off-plan property, it can be a daunting prospect. Some people are scared to work with others for fear of ‘looking stupid’. It isn’t you.
